GW Information

Normal operations will resume at all three of George Washington University's campuses on Wednesday, August 24.  There have been no reports of injuries and only minor, non-structural damage to a few university buildings, which will not affect operations. The university granted early release to employees Tuesday afternoon.  All employees should report to work as scheduled on Wednesday, August 24.  Classes are scheduled to begin Monday, August 29. Please continue to check Campus Advisories for any updates.

Shuttles to the Mt. Vernon Campus and Virginia Campus are running, but expect significant travel delays.

All GW Co-curricular Programs that are currently traveling with the university have been accounted for.

Public Transportation

Metro is running slowly while tracks are inspected.

Metrobus is operational, expect some delays due to traffic signal outages.

MARC train service has resumed at reduced speeds.

Please visit www.wmata.com (Metro) and www.vre.org (Virginia Rail Service) for more information regarding transportation delays.

Amtrak delayed. Union Station now open.

Engineers have verified that all major transportation tunnels in DC are free from damage.


DC Region

Wireless communications (cell phone and internet) are heavily congested at this time.

National Park Service states all memorials and parks are closed at this time.
